RWF SPOTLIGHT: CANDY LAND

Image
Photo via Rob Brazier / Head Drop What better to get us in the mood for the Brighton Championship Tournament than a nice sugary treat, and an interview with an entrant? So we thought - why do them separately when Candy Floss combines the two so incredibly well! Almost a year to the night she made her Riptide debut, Candy will compete for the opportunity to become the inaugural Brighton Champion. In that time she has made herself a firm fan-favourite down here on the South Coast, to the point where a Riptide show without her just doesn't feel quite the same. We chatted to Miss Floss to get the low-down on how she stays so sweet outside the ring, but can be so kick-ass once she's inside! Hope you all enjoy... * * * * * RWF: As one of the fastest-rising stars of the British Wrestling scene many people will be familiar with your work, but how would you describe yourself and your style to someone new to the world of Wrestling? My Wrestling character is called Candy Fl...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: THE KING OF STRONG & STABLE STYLE

Image
Legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock once said "The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture" and in the realms of wrestling I can't think of a better example of this than Spike Trivet in Riptide. From the early days of the promotion Spike quickly became the most hated man in the building, mixing his questionable political beliefs with his penchant for hiring mercenaries to do his dirty work. His obsession with crushing all in his path, in particular Jack Sexsmith, has become one of the central narratives told across the Riptide catalogue so far. Of course our goal here at RWF is to find out a little bit more about the person behind the persona, and with the Brighton Championship Tournament fast approaching - where Spike will be gunning for that title - what better time to catch up with most people's third favourite member of Money vs Everybody! RWF: As one of the fastest-rising heels on the British Wrestling scene many people will be f...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: THE BIG BOSS MAN

Image
Photo via Rob Brazier @ Head Drop  If you've been around Riptide much on show day, you'll almost certainly have seen this person directing traffic, running back and forth, and generally making sure everything is running smoothly. He is Riptide Wrestling Producer, creator, and visionary Josh Bevan. From a kernel of an idea in early 2017, Josh began to develop the ethos behind Riptide, drawing initially on his experience in the music industry as well as wrestling shows he had been to as a fan. With some assistance from his team, plus an absolute ton of hard work and dedication, Josh was able to create and produce the first ever Riptide show - and I think we all know what has happened since! One of the most admirable things about Josh is he truly cares about everyone involved in Riptide, from the wrestlers, to the crew, to the fans. He never stops striving for excellence and that shows in the ring and on the screen in the beautifully shot on-demand content. Let's hea...

RIPTIDE RECAP: INTERNATIONAL WATERS

Image
Hey everyone! First up SPOILER ALERT - if you are avoiding the results of the Riptide: International Waters for any reason - do not read on! I'll be revealing the outcome of every match followed by a few thoughts about each one in general, but I'll hold back on some of the details so that when you watch it on Riptide On Demand - you'll at least get some surprises! MATCH 1: Money vs Everybody (Damon Moser & Chris Ridgeway) vs Toni Storm & Bea Priestley - BCT Qualifier RESULT: Money vs Everybody win via Referee Stoppage (Submission) Great opener, exactly the right amount of each wrestling ingredient to get the crowd going early on. Always great to have wrestlers as talented as Toni & Bea in Riptide. I have a feeling we won't see them all the regularly given how often they work elsewhere, but nice to get them down here now and again.  Of course Spike was with Money vs Everbody in his usual supervisory role. Could it be that he doesn't trust hi...

(NO) MONEY IN THE BANK - PRESS RELEASE

Image
Tag Team Comedy Comes to Edinburgh Comedy double act Thom Bee & Andrew Marsh will be bringing their debut show “(No) Money in the Bank” to the Edinburgh fringe. As the title suggests, the show is exactly what happens when two, very poor adults, try and take on the world of professional wrestling, which Screen Jabber called “An absolute must for comedy and wrestling fans.” (No) Money in the Bank is a show that combines character comedy, stand up comedy, and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the wrestling world. No rock is left unturned or rock bottomed as Thom and Andrew explore the good, the bad, and the downright weird aspects of sports entertainment, which they both love so dearly. There is even a special guest appearance from Balthazar Dark, a bitter, volatile wrestler who has somehow found himself on this show. (No) Money in the Bank promises a truly surreal use of “tag team comedy” and aims to sports entertain fans of wrestling. as it has been created and performed by two ...
