RWF SPOTLIGHT: HIT THE BREAKS

Every now and again there comes an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something. It might be a band you like who go from supporting other artists in dingy clubs and go on to sell out arenas, or it might be a stand-up comedian who goes from performing in local pubs to being on TV every week. Well I'm telling you right now, get all in on Jordon Breaks, so that one day you can say that you saw him live at Riptide.

Although relatively young, both in age and within the business, Jordon has already drawn rave reviews for his technical prowess from fans and most importantly, fellow wrestlers. One (incredibly gifted) writer even made an ambitious, yet not unrealistic, comparison to a young Zak Sabre Jr. He's from Brighton too, so not only is he talented - he's also local lad!

No doubt Jordan has the ability, the grounding, and the mindset to go far - and I have a feeling the character and ring-presence will only continue to grow as he rises up through the ranks and gains more experience. 'One to watch' doesn't sum Jordon up, it just doesn't go far enough.

RWF: As one of the emerging young talents on the British Wrestling scene many people will be becoming familiar with your work, but how would you describe yourself and your style to someone new to the world of wrestling?

In a sense, I like to think I'm a throw back to the 'World of Sport' era of wrestling. As a student of the game I study all styles and flavours of grappling but ultimately I find myself gravitating towards the British, technical, persuasion. There's so much forgotten or undiscovered World of Sport greatness out there, I want to be the guy to bring that back.

RWF: What made you decide to become a wrestler?

Who doesn't want to be a wrestler? Am I right?

RWF: As someone from Brighton, how does it feel to wrestle for Riptide in front of a hometown crowd?

Exhilarating and rewarding. I've been following the Riptide journey since day one. With no expectations, I bought a ticket to the first Riptide show and I was blown away. Almost every show since then I have had the good fortune of contributing in some small way or another. Be that ring crewing, lighting or gunge supervising. It's an honour to have the opportunity to come out in front of my hometown crowd and do what I enjoy doing.

RWF: What are your ambitions and goals going forward in wrestling, whether it be in the near or distant future?

I honestly have no expectations at the moment. Like Indiana Jones, I'm just making things up as I go. I would obviously like to continue working for companies like Riptide and Progress. Battle Pro Wrestling has been putting on some outstanding shows in south London this year and I want to continue to contribute to that popular opinion with my undefeated streak, of sorts.

RWF: If you could give one piece of advice - whether it be to aspiring wrestlers, people in the industry already, or even the fans – what would you say?

To those in a training environment; ears open, mouth shut. Have a sense of urgency. Keep it simple. Fundamentals. And train at Knuckle locks gym!!! The latter point is most imperative to becoming a great wrestler.
