INTERNATIONAL WATERS (06/07/2018) - CARD & UPDATES

Image
News is now coming in thick and fast for Riptide: International Waters - to be held Friday 6th July. The event itself was announced alongside news of the first bout - a mouthwatering contest between the always-entertaining Chris Brookes and Japanese star Naoki Tanizaki. A subsequent tweet from Riptide revealed that Walter vs 'Speedball' Mike Bailey would join what already seems to be shaping up as an awesome card. As part of Spike Trivet being given a Brighton Championship Tournament (BCT) Qualifier at the Riptide Rumble, it was also announced that Damon Moser & Chris Ridgeway will get an opportunity to qualify at International Waters. Their opponents have just recently been announced as Toni Storm & Bea Priestley, both of whom return to Riptide after a while away. After an absolute war against David Starr at the Rumble, Jack Sexsmith gets a deserved shot at qualifying for the BCT as he takes on much anticipated debutante and WWE tournament participant Jordan ...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: STARS IN STRIPES

Image
Aaren checks on Wild Boar - Photo via Rob Brazier/Head Drop It's important to us here on the RWF blog to feature not just the awesome wrestlers, but also the incredibly talented people that work behind the scenes and in other capacities within Riptide. With that in mind, you will almost certainly know our next guest. Consciously or subconsciously, you'll have seen him many times and he's probably been in the ring more often than anyone in promotional history - it's referee Aaren Wilde ! Aaren is a true Riptide regular at this point and has recently added the likes of Progress and Anarchy Pro to his resume. What better time to catch up and find out a bit about our favourite (sorry Shay & Tom) man in stripes... *** RWF: What are your earliest memories of wrestling? My earliest memory is my first! I couldn't sleep one night and walked into the front room to see my Dad watching WWE Over the Limit 2010, the first-ever televised match I watched was John C...

RIPTIDE RECAP: RIPTIDE RUMBLE

Image
Hey everyone! First up  SPOILER ALERT  - if you are avoiding the results of the Riptide Rumble for any reason - do not read on! I'll be revealing the outcome of every match followed by a few thoughts about each one in general, but I'll hold back on some of the details so that when you watch it on Riptide On Demand - you'll at least get some surprises! MATCH 1: Candy Floss vs Chakara RESULT: Candy Floss wins via Submission Was great to see Candy back from Japan, and looking like she has a real streak of ruthlessness now - which I'm definitely a fan of.  Chants of "welcome home" broke out and I have to say she really does feel like one of our own at this point.  I think I pretty much understand what 'fleek' means, but 'ashy' I'm still not too sure about. Overall, I think Chakara and Candy were closer to the former rather than the latter on the night though. Much as Chakara gets booed, if they teamed her with Candy and made her the b...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: OH REALLY? O'REILLY!

Image
(Photo via Rob Brazier @ Head Drop) With the Riptide Rumble coming up soon, we thought it would be good to speak to not just a participant in the inaugural event, but one of the pioneering women of wrestling as a whole - Rhia O'Reilly. Rhia has a wealth of experience competing in the UK and North America for promotions such as Shimmer, EVE, Progress, IPW:UK, XWA and recently of course Riptide! We hope you enjoy finding out a little more about her in this interview. RWF: As one of the mainstays of the British Wrestling scene over the past few years many people will be familiar with your work, but how would you describe yourself and your style to someone new to the world of wrestling? I’m a brawler at heart but with the technical skills to back it up. Less strong style, more smashy smashy. RWF: What made you decide to become a wrestler, and what was the first step you took on that path? Seeing Trish Stratus get put through a table. First time I really got emo...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: LOG ON WITH THE KEYBOARD WARRIOR!

Image
(Photo via Robyn Goding @ Beyond Gorilla) Personal feelings aside, nobody can deny that Kurtis Chapman has made a name for himself in Riptide Wrestling of late.   He may not pander to the crowd, he may have a unlikely geographical loyalty to a certain Lord, but much of his background remains a mystery. We spoke to the 'Keyboard Warrior' - as he is not so affectionately known - to find out a little bit more about the man behind the computer screen. RWF: As one of the young up-and-coming stars of British Wrestling many people will be familiar with your work, but how would you describe yourself and your style to someone new to the world of wrestling? My style is sort of a hybrid between the British technical style and the Japanese fighting spirit, I tend to take quite a beating in matches but I keep coming back for more! RWF: You and Lord Gideon Grey are real Riptide veterans now. Is there anything in particular that you enjoy about wrestling for Ript...

RWF SPOTLIGHT: INTERVIEW WITH A DRAGON!

Image
We recently had the great pleasure of speaking to the incredibly talented 'Dragon Heart' Danny Jones, who will be making his debut at Riptide Spring Break! We want to personally thank Danny for his time and efforts in bringing you this interview. RWF: As one of the big up-and-coming stars of British Wrestling many people will be familiar with your work, but how would you describe yourself and your style to someone new to the wide world of wrestling? I’d describe my style as quite hybrid as I’m not massively devoted to one style of Wrestling - but I am pretty hard hitting. RWF: You are of course scheduled to face off against TK Cooper, Elijah and Drew Parker in a four way match at Riptide Spring Break. Is there anything in particular that you are looking forward to about appearing in Riptide or performing in front of the Brighton crowd? I’ve seen a lot of good content posted by Riptide, and love the way their shows are filmed. I’ve only heard good things, so I’m j...
